A Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) is a particular variety of picture postcard. Real photo postcards are true photographs produced from a negative chemically on photographic paper with postcard backs. Most RPPC’s are one of a kind like pictures you take with your camera are one of a kind. Seldom are two cards identical. If you look at a picture postcard with a magnifying glass you can basically tell if it is a real photo or a printed card. If the picture has a lot of little dots then it is a printed card and not a real photo. Also, the back of real photo postcards were made with postcard backs and the back gives us a clue as to the date of the post card.
